Flavour and aroma

HopShot®

A soluble blend of hop-oil fractions made to replace or supplement hop pellets added at the end of the boil and into the whirlpool.

Caution

The stated values are indicative. Hop oils cannot be converted to pellets using a simple kilogram-to-millilitre ratio. The result is affected by the base beer, the original hopping, the timing of application, temperature, mixing intensity and the desired product character. Every new application should therefore first be confirmed on samples and only then scaled up to the full tank.

HopShot®

A soluble blend of hop-oil fractions made to replace or supplement hop pellets added at the end of the boil and into the whirlpool. It gives beer the flavour character of late hopping without further plant material.

Use in: Late-hop flavour

Key benefits

replaces or supplements hop pellets
late-hop flavour without further material

How to use

HopShot® is dosed at the same stage at which pellets for late or whirlpool hopping would be added. It can be added directly to the wort with sufficient flow or mixing. Current application materials also allow dosing after fermentation, but for a clear split of the range, its main use is replacing the flavour created on the hot side of production.

Manufacturer’s guideline dosing

The overall dosing range is roughly 5–40 ml/hl; lighter beer styles typically need 10–20 ml/hl, while IPAs and strongly hopped beers need 30–40 ml/hl.

Parameter	Value
Overall dosing range	roughly 5–40 ml/hl
Lighter beer styles	10–20 ml/hl
IPA and strongly hopped beers	30–40 ml/hl

When to use HopShot®

at the final stage of the boil
during the whirlpool
to replace part or all of a late hop-pellet addition
to increase yield and reduce wort losses
when a repeatable flavour profile is required

Recommendation

For 1,000 litres (10 hl) of Lager at a dose of 15 ml/hl: 15 ml/hl × 10 hl = 150 ml of HopShot®. A suitable variant can be picked, for example, from the Lager, Pilsner, IPA, Citrus, Floral or Spicy profiles.
