Flavour and aroma
HopGain®
Two 100 % hop extracts: FLOE adds late-hop flavour on the hot side, Haze creates a stable, adjustable haze in finished beer.
Caution
The stated values are indicative. Hop oils cannot be converted to pellets using a simple kilogram-to-millilitre ratio. The result is affected by the base beer, the original hopping, the timing of application, temperature, mixing intensity and the desired product character. Every new application should therefore first be confirmed on samples and only then scaled up to the full tank.
HopGain® FLOE
A flowable, 100% hop extract intended for the hot side of production. It is added at the end of the boil or into the whirlpool and can partially or fully replace a late hop-pellet addition. The product delivers varietal-specific hop flavour and aroma but contains no iso-alpha or alpha acids — so it can boost hop character intensity without a corresponding rise in bitterness. The manufacturer's current product pages also describe it as a polyphenol-free extract.
Use in: Liquid replacement for late and whirlpool hopping
Key benefits
- replaces or reduces a late hop-pellet addition
- intense varietal flavour and aroma without added bitterness
- lower wort losses from absorption into hop material
- fewer solid particles in the process
- easy dosing, no need to preheat the product
- a more repeatable result across batches
- reduced foaming during the process, plus some added yeast nutrients
How to use
HopGain® FLOE is added directly to the brewing vessel at the end of the boil or into the whirlpool. The manufacturer recommends an application temperature of roughly 65–100°C and a total contact time with the wort of at least 40 minutes, including the subsequent transfer to the fermentation tank. With a very late addition or whirlpool application, a light oily film may remain on the equipment — this has no negative effect on the product's function and can be removed with ordinary hot-water washing.
Manufacturer’s guideline dosing
As a starting replacement for T90 pellets, the manufacturer recommends using an amount equal to roughly one-tenth of their weight.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Typical dosing range | 5–200 g/hl wort |
| Starting replacement for T90 pellets | roughly 1/10 of the weight of pellets replaced |
Recommendation
This is only a starting ratio — the resulting dose depends on the variety, the original hop bill, the application point and the desired intensity. Example: the original recipe uses 50 kg of T90 pellets for late hopping a 100 hl batch — the starting FLOE trial dose is calculated as 50 kg T90 ÷ 10 = 5 kg of HopGain® FLOE, equal to a dose of 5 kg ÷ 100 hl = 50 g/hl. The product is added at the end of the boil or into the whirlpool so that total contact with the wort of at least 40 minutes is maintained; the resulting dose is then adjusted based on the sensory evaluation of the first batch.

HopGain® Haze
A natural, 100% hop extract for creating stable, adjustable haze in finished beer. It achieves the same haze intensity across batches, independent of the yeast strain used or naturally occurring haze formation. The product's primary function is haze formation, not a change in flavour — its sensory impact should still be confirmed with a trial in the specific beer.
Use in: Persistent, repeatable haze
Key benefits
- Hazy IPA, NEIPA and Hazy Pale Ale
- wheat beers and Hefeweizen
- other styles where stable haze is required
How to use
The best result is achieved by dosing evenly into the beer stream while transferring to the bright tank. The product can also be added directly to the target tank before filling it — creating an even haze requires more thorough mixing than with typical aromatic hop oils. No further filtration is needed after application to finished beer; subsequent filtration would, in fact, alter the intensity of the haze created.
Manufacturer’s guideline dosing
The actual haze intensity depends on the beer's composition, protein content, prior filtration and other raw materials used — a lab trial is therefore required before applying it to a full production batch.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Reference guide dose | 40 ml/hl (haze of roughly 20 EBC) |
When to use HopGain® Haze
- after fermentation has finished
- into fined or filtered beer
- before transferring to the bright tank
- to correct insufficient or unstable haze
- to create several visually distinct products from one base beer
Recommendation
Example: a brewery needs to create stable haze in a finished 100 hl NEIPA batch. At the reference dose of 40 ml/hl, the required amount is 100 hl × 40 ml/hl = 4 litres of HopGain® Haze. The product is dosed evenly into the beer stream while transferring to the bright tank. After thorough homogenisation, the haze intensity is measured and visually assessed — the dose for the next batch is adjusted based on the desired result.
